Culture shock

I introduced a friend to the mediation class at the Tibetan centre last night. I think she found the chanting in Tibetan, prostrations and so on a bit culturally alien.

I remember it all felt really weird and alien to me when I first went. After a few weeks, though, it became more familiar and the cultural differences became less of a barrier to me.

I have no idea whether or not my friend will want to come back, but at least she knows a little more about what makes me tick now. I think she found at least some things from the class helpful. I hope so, anyway.
